Peruse the LCD panel selection at your favourite online retailer and odds are you'll find an army of 22-inch widescreen models to choose from. They're great value currently, too. With prices kicking off at well under £150, 22 inches is surely where it's currently at when it comes to bang for buck.
There is, however, a catch. When it comes to the actual screen technology on offer, it's any panel you like as long as it's TN+Film. There are simply no affordable 22-inch monitors based on the superior PVA, MVA or IPS technology, which is a little disappointing in some respects.

But that doesn't mean TN+Film panel technology is standing still. Both the TN panels themselves and the electronics that drive them are constantly improving in an attempt to close the gap to the likes of PVA and IPS while maintaining that crucial price advantage.

The result of those efforts is represented by the likes of BenQ's new X2200W. As far as TN+Film screens go, the X2200W is pretty much state of the art and packed with theoretically snazzy image quality enhancement features that lift it above the TN masses. At least that's what BenQ claims.
